I will start with a little about me and how I found Bikram Yoga. After graduating from college I was working as a graphic designer spending 10 hours a day in front of a computer. I quickly realized that this type of work I enjoyed, but the amount of time I spent sitting was causing me to be unhappy. I had always had an interest in massage therapy so I decided to go back to school. I moved to Traverse City, MI for massage school.
Just before my move I was rear ended at a stop light. This accident caused damage in my cervical and lumbar spine. I have 4 bulging discs in my neck, and 1 in my lumbar spine. I didn’t have insurance and my car insurance was fighting my claim. This is what brought me to Bikram Yoga, I started a little over 3 years ago and have not stopped. Bikram yoga is the only program that makes my body feel like it did pre-accident. This is my physical therapy, this is how I stay healthy. It was soon after I started practicing that I knew some how I needed to become a teacher. Finally, I found my way to Bikram Yoga Teacher Training Fall 2011. Although training was tough and it’s over, I know there is so much more to learn. I find it necessary to learn from senior teachers, so that I can become the best teacher I can be. That being said, I know it is as equally important to learn from the students. Every person is different, and every “body” is different, the learning has just begun. I am excited to show the world what this yoga can do for the body, mind and spirit.
